As part of a progressive and dynamic team at Charles River Community Health (CRCH), a healthcare practice providing comprehensive and compassionate care to underserved communities, you will be part of an amazing pediatrics team by providing exceptional integrated pediatric services. These are fast moving and exciting times for pediatric care. As we strive towards continued excellence in quality metrics and success in value based contracts, we need engaged and compassionate Pediatrician to help steward change. We have grown greatly in the last three years and we are excited to continue to expand the number of patients we serve. This position will be working with a dedicated, committed, diverse group of Family Medicine nurse practitioners, Internists, Family Medicine MDs and DOs who collaborate closely with an energetic group of nurses, medical assistants and multidisciplinary team on achieving quality care and patient centered care coordination. The Pediatrician will work with patients and staff who are racially, ethnically and culturally diverse, so being culturally competent is required.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform holistic, evidence-based medical care services for pediatric health center patients.
- Evaluate, treat, and care for patients (including walk-ins), write prescriptions, provide preventive health care advice and case management, assess psychological impact of illness and treat or appropriately refer patients, for evaluation and treatment.
- Participate in the NP Student and/or other clinical discipline training activities at the health center.
- Participate in the formation and evaluation of applicable clinical protocols.
- Maintain continuity of care when patients utilize other health care facilities, e.g. referrals, laboratory, emergency room services, outpatient departments, specialty clinics, and inpatient services.
- Refer patients for specialty services, as appropriate, provide documentation according to health center’s procedures and follow up on results.
- Participate in staff meetings, including quality assurance and medical audit activities in keeping with health center’s procedures.
- Participate in working 1-2 Saturday mornings per quarter.
- Have a standing patient care session one night per week.
- Work collaboratively with other staff in meeting ACO quality goals, DPH accreditation and other regulatory and/or funding requirements.
- Participate in Continuing Medical Education activities in order to remain board eligible and take exams as required to maintain board certification.
- This role consists of six primary care pediatric clinical sessions (30 hours per week) and one administrative session to lead and revamp the Vaccine for Children Program (5 hours per week), subject to patient volume and organizational needs.
- Perform other related duties, as required.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, TRAITS
- M.D. Degree, and must have completed a three year residency in Pediatrics.
- Must be Board-eligible and or Board certified in Pediatrics.
- Must have current Massachusetts license.
- Must apply for and be granted privileges at affiliated hospital(s).
- Understanding of ambulatory family practice health care program administration and clinical operations.
- Bilingual/bicultural preferred.
- Good communication skills, particularly with staff and patients from diverse cultures whose primary language is not English.
- Experience with Patient Centered Medical Home model and concepts preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience with EMR and Microsoft Office systems required.
