What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sommolier position at Charley's Steak House?
SUMMARY:
Because we are in the customer service business, the Server must act as a trendsetter for positive behavior, outstanding can-do customer service, and knowledgeable sales skills. The Server must always show a smile, and must always be ready to do whatever is needed to ensure the satisfaction of our guests. The Server must demonstrate grace under pressure, and be willing to go the extra mile at any given time.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Preferred: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience:
- Level One or higher Sommelier Certified (preffered)
- Extensive knowledge on wines from around the world
- Restaurant or Retail Sales experience at full service restaurant
Skills:
- Good knowledge of food and wine
- Clear and friendly communication skills
- Excellent memory and ability to multi-task
- Math Skills
- Can-do customer service attitude
- Ability to handle stress well
- Attention to detail
- Positive attitude
Physical:
- Use of legs and feet, arms and hands, walk, stand, reach, and carry up to 25 lb.
- Able to see and hear within normal standards with corrective devices if necessary
Mental:
- Read write, and speak English, basic math skills, work under pressure
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Server works in a Bar/Restaurant atmosphere, which is a temperature-controlled environment with moderate to heavy noise. The restaurant is a fast-paced working environment. The Servers hours are dependent on the weekly schedule established by the Service Manager and Assistant Service Manager of 5 day work week, dinner only, busy restaurant. Hours worked, however, must reflect the actual time required for successful completion of a project/task.
This position is a variable position and there is no guarantee for a specific number of hours.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Server reports to the Service Manager and Assistant Service Manager.
DUTIES AND TASKS:
1.Attends to guests, delivering orders to the table
2.Attends to guests, checking on customers during their meal
3.Performs general clean-up duties as necessary and appropriate during any slow time
4.Assist service staff with recommendations and wine service with guests
5.Offers information and suggestions about the menu
6.Acts as salesperson and offers specials.
7.Performs assigned opening, running and closing side work
8. Preparing wine orders, inventory, menu updates.
9.Daily Staff training as well as monthly training classes
