The workers' compensation/workplace accommodations supervisor, under general supervision, performs highly complex work with moderate decision-making discretion to ensure successful solutions and reasonable accommodations that help employees or job seekers (internal and external) with disabilities or medical restrictions successfully perform their jobs or in the job application/hiring process. Employee performs managerial work to carry out Board of Education policies and procedures related to workers' compensation, workplace accommodations, and ADA under the direction of the Benefits and Risk Management Manager.

Essential Functions
- Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
- Lead, manage, supervise/evaluate assigned programs/staff
- Investigate, analyze, and formulate methods for handling special projects/reports
- Ensure that all Human Resources systems are fair, equitable, and adhere to state, federal, and local laws, and school board policies
- Evaluate accident reports, ensuring the timely processing of medical bills and temporary total disability benefits; reviews medical reports, witness statements, department investigation results and other documentation
- Advise and/or assist departments in conducting investigation of accident reports, including interviewing of witnesses and procurement of relevant documentation
- Review accident reports to identify patterns of injury and to determine whether unsafe conditions contributed to the accident
- Advise departments of trends in injuries and proper safety procedures that may result in reduction of injuries; provides department with information that will aid in reducing accidents and improve safety
- Train claims coordinator(s) in the proper procedures and forms to be utilized in workers' compensation matters and the preparation of accident reports, notices of absence, and notices of return to work in accordance with policy and the Workers' Compensation Act
- Meet with WC broker to maintain quality plans/customer service for employees
- Oversee the purchase of equipment, supplies, or services needed for approved accommodations
- Design, develop, and implement products and services related to come-to-work, return-to-work and stay-at-work initiatives
- Provide specialized consultation and subject matter expertise in evaluating requests for accommodation in compliance with state and federal laws
- Interpret and apply specialized knowledge to effectively manage accommodation requests and ensure consistent application of district policies and practices
- Work with supervising managers to implement job modifications/accommodations and coordinate implementation at the worksite
- Oversee and manage processes to ensure accurate management of records and reporting through multiple platforms
- Oversee and consult with employees, job seekers, managers and other partners on a variety of accommodations related requests
- Oversee and conduct individual analysis and timely recommendations of accommodation requests on a case by case basis, including engaging in the interactive process
- Educate managers/supervisors on the accommodations process and its relation to ADAAA and other federal regulations, state statutes and local ordinances
- Facilitate staff meetings and attend other related meetings as needed/required
- Complete local, state, or federal surveys and reports accurately and promptly
- Participate in professional development workshops and leadership training
- Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations
- Perform related work as assigned or required
- Comprehensive in-depth knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures of public school system policies and human resources programs
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements applicable to school system human resources programs
- Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills requiring independent judgment to appropriately apply knowledge of policy, employment laws and/or regulations

- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or related area required
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience overseeing ADA, WC, FMLA preferred
- Equivalent combination of experience and education
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License or ability to provide own transportation
- Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
- Work requires the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Work regularly requires exchange of accurate and detailed information through oral and written communication
- Constantly operates a computer and other office business equipment
- Ability to remain in stationary position for required meetings/work
- Ability to move to other work locations
- Visual acuity requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities
- Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, and to receive detailed information through oral communications
