Chartwell Law is a well-established, high volume defense litigation firm seeking an enthusiastic 2023 law graduate who wants to gain valuable and practical legal experience in a dynamic law firm environment with our insurance defense/general liability team. As the position primarily involves conducting legal research, preparing memoranda of the research, drafting motions, and providing support to firm’s attorneys, excellent research and writing skills are a must. Candidates must be detail oriented and good at identifying viable arguments. This is an excellent opportunity for J.D. graduates hoping to gain hands-on expertise in a highly specialized field where attorneys are always in strong demand, while preparing to take the bar.
The law clerk position is part time. Law clerks’ schedules are flexible and can be set to accommodate candidates’ school schedules. This position has the potential to become a full time Law Clerk after taking the bar exam, which would then transition into an associate position upon successfully passing the bar exam.
Responsibilities:
• Perform legal research utilizing electronic sources
• Assist attorneys in drafting of briefs and motions
• Prepare research memoranda, draft pleadings, discovery, and motions
• Help attorneys prepare for depositions and trials
• Analyze deposition transcripts and prepare summaries
Requirements
Qualifications:
• Candidates must be 2023 J.D. graduates
