Zappa Stewart, part of Chase Corporation is the premier provider of Super Absorbent Polymers and we are looking for an experienced and energetic Applications Engineer to support the sales team and grow our business in the key market areas.
This is a full time remote outside sales position that can be located anywhere in the US. Preference given to candidates in South Eastern US.
Applications Engineer provides technical support to our superabsorbent polymer customers in North America
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a field technical support role and be familiar with environmental remediation terms and regulations.Candidates with technical support experience in any of the following industries may also be considered.
- Solidification
- Horizontal directional drilling
- Dredging
- Water & wastewater
- Mining
- Tunneling, etc.
Must be self-directed, able to work effectively and independently and as part of a team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform a variety of analytical laboratory testing of waste materials and presenting results of test with sales teams and customers.
Provide onsite instruction on proper usage and handling of Zappa Stewart products with end users in manufacturing and construction environments.
Develop a key understanding of competitive products including testing performance and documenting results. Utilize data to create technical product comparisons for sales and marketing.
Gain a comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements in the environmental remediation industry as they relate to our customers, products, and growth strategies. Maintain updated documentation mapping regulations to our products and customers. Present information to Sales Director to formulate, develop, prioritize, and implement territory strategies, penetration, and business goals and objectives
Work closely with our plant personnel, sales, R&D, and customer service departments as needed to meet customer’s expectations.
Maintain company contact information and document all technical calls, customers visits and business opportunities and customer/project profile information as needed in CRM.
Attend and present at sponsored meetings and training activities.
DUTIES
This position requires the individual to manage multiple priorities to assist the sales team in maintaining existing customers, closing new opportunities, and identifying new business.
Typical technical calls include industry engineering firms, environmental consultants, Fortune 500 companies, contractors and distributors supporting the client base.
Other Duties
- Onsite sample collection, testing and product demonstrations.
- Provide product training to end users prior to and during use of our products.
- Operate a variety of lab test equipment
- Troubleshoot customer application issues and provide corrective actions.
- Engagement with industry organizations. Present and promote the benefits of absorbent polymers at national and regional events.Keep up to date on hot environmental topics.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate university degree in Engineering, Chemistry or Business Administration required. Candidates without an engineering education must have a minimum of 5 years experience in a field technical support role.
High personal savvy with a wide range of people and able to earn the confidence of new and existing customers.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills (written and verbal).
Excellent organizational and decision-making skills.
Ability to present sales and education materials to engineering firms and industry professionals.
Will travel up to 50% of the time.
Strong analytical and computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
