REPORTS TO: Professional Development Manager

JOB FOCUS: The Professional Development Coordinator works with the Professional Development Manager to assist staff with career development, meeting required training hours, and continuing education plans.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedules Professional Development meetings with Staff and PDP manager.
  • Maintains and monitors PDP calendar with employee meetings, follow-up appointments, and training dates.
  • Updates Professional Development Guidance plans to meet Head Start and ECEAP standards, and childcare licensing WACs.
  • Creates and maintains employee professional development folders.
  • Tracks employee-required training and STARS hours.
  • Looks for training opportunities for staff.
  • Works with local colleges to find career development opportunities.
  • Assists with planning and facilitating of pre-service week and annual training requirements.
  • Assists with enrolling employees in CDCSA on-site training such as CPR/First Aid, CPI, and CDL courses.
  • Assists with creating Quarterly professional development Newsletter.
  • Maintains required STARS hours and training spreadsheet for Head Start, ECEAP, and licensing requirements.
  • Obtain Stars Trainer certificate.
  • Obtain CPR/First Aid Trainer Certificate.
  • Helps provide STARS training to staff when possible.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • AA Degree or Early Childhood Education or related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of creating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to communicate positively with staff, children, and families with varying cultural, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License, automobile liability insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment physical and TB test.
  • Ability to pass a DCYF background check Freedom from conviction of child abuse and neglect.
  • Preference given to former or current Head Start/Early Head Start/ECEAP parents.
