Chemours is seeking a Mechanic to join our growing Mission Mine team! This position will report directly to the Maintenance Coordinator in our Nahunta, GA location. Safely perform highly skilled maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting work involved with process equipment and mechanical systems for mining and mineral processing facilities operating 24-hours per day, 7-days per week maximizing equipment availability and reducing downtime. Mechanic will support active operations by safely and efficiently maintaining, servicing, and installing/replacing water and slurry pumps, clarifiers, screeners, conveyors, feeders, shredders, bins, valves, and other mineral processing wear parts. Mechanic will need to install, replace, troubleshoot, repair and maintain process equipment as well as perform preventive maintenance activities on all process equipment. Preferred candidate will be an experienced and qualified industrial mechanic capable of working closely with maintenance and operations teams in a mining and mineral processing environment. Daily activities Ensure all work is performed within company, state, and federal regulations, standards, statutes, policies, and procedures. Identify and promote opportunities to improve mine safety performance, act as a safety leader. Complete open work orders, maintain and service all machinery and process equipment, complete preventive maintenance activities as required by manufacturers OEM standards. Install, replace, troubleshoot, repair and maintain mechanical and process equipment including water and slurry pumps, clarifiers, screeners, conveyors, feeders, shredders, bins, valves, gear boxes, hydraulic pumps and mineral processing wear parts. Assist electricians in maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems. Support mine and operational personnel as-needed to meet objectives. Respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service. Goals for the role Act as a Safety Leader to ensure individual and team Safety remain top priority in the planning and execution of all tasks. Work closely with Company Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) personnel targeting zero incidents and continuous improvement of mine site EHS performance. Continuous improvement in maintenance approach, encourage initiatives intended to reduce safety risk, increase productivity and efficiency, reduce maintenance cost. Responsibilities Work in a self-guided manner in the absence of supervision and demonstrate creativity, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate initiative. Report all personal injuries and EHS incidents and assist with both safety and environmental investigations. Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in all assigned areas. Ability to read equipment specifications, OEM maintenance manuals and requirements, diagrams, interpret blueprints and technical drawings to correctly assemble and maintain equipment. Skills in reading complex instructions required. Requisition material and supplies from stockroom; call vendors to discuss needs for parts and supplies and recommend purchases and suppliers. Monitor work done by outside contractors for adherence with company safety and quality standards. Support down-day planning to accomplish required work per agreed cost and schedule. Offer guidance and support to other maintenance personnel to further develop in-house technical expertise. In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following: Knowledge Of: Methods and techniques of troubleshooting, repairing and installing plant equipment, rigging and lifting equipment, precision laser alignment of pumps and motors. MSHA rules and regulations. Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications. Ability To: Troubleshoot and maintain plant equipment, machinery and related facilities. Operate power hand tools and other specialized maintenance equipment. Operate office equipment including computers and supporting software applications. Adapt to changing technologies and learn functionality of new equipment and systems. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Physical Requirements: Frequently ascends or descends ladders, stairs, elevated walkways, ramps and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Perform heavy manual labor when needed such as moving and installing equipment in different weather conditions. Frequently lifts or moves up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts or moves up to 50 pounds. Position requires working near and around operating mechanical parts and mobile equipment and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibrations. Ability to read and interpret various plans and designs. Capable of wearing personal protective equipment, such as hearing protectors and respirators, as necessary. Qualifications, Education, Training and Skills: High School graduate or equivalent plus specialized training in mechanical, maintenance or a related field, 5-years years of plant maintenance experience. Valid Journeyman Millwright certification or equivalent, welding and rigging certification.
