UCT is seeking an experienced and talented Lab Analyst to join our team in Fremont, CA!
Job Summary:
The Lab Analyst I will be responsible for performing a variety of moderately complex laboratory tests or protocols based on standard operating procedures (SOP’s), processing of standard production samples, operation of analytical equipment, and various lab support functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyzes data interpret results and make detailed observations concerning a particular technique.
- Maintains laboratory notebooks and logbooks according to protocol.
- Input data for reports and summaries.
- Plans and schedules daily work based on the supervisor's input.
- Identifies and solves simple problems in the laboratory, such as ensuring sufficient lab supplies and reagents are available to perform assigned tasks.
- Maintains a clean laboratory, equipment, and lab apparatus and practices safe waste disposal. Practices correct and approved cleanroom protocols and maintain cleanroom to quality specifications
- May provide technical training to other analysts according to SOP’s and work instructions after being proficient.
- May handle and analyze non-standard client samples with supervision and work instructions.
- Independently handle and analyze standard client samples without contamination and act in a manner consistent with principles of analytical chemistry, to obtain accurate, reproducible, and precise results.
- Perform routine maintenance of instruments and sample preparation apparatus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to identify the occurrence of departures from the quality system.
- Must be able to follow QC/QA protocols, and participate in QA and safety programs, preventative maintenance, and various training.
- Must have good communication skills (written and oral.)
- Must be able to work well with management and peers, meet rigid deadlines, and work well under pressure.
- Must have good math and basic statistical calculation skills and have a basic knowledge of general chemistry.
- Required to perform some non-routine work. All tasks are directed either by established procedures or by the request of the supervisor.
- Must be able to work alone once the task is assigned and follow instructions.
- Exercises some discretion and independent judgment.
- Requires long exposures to cleanroom conditions, wearing cleanroom garments, and various personal protective items (gloves, goggles, etc.) depending on activities.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Requires steady hands and the ability to handle hazardous chemicals safely, with great care and precision.
Educational/Certification Requirement:
- AA degree (in chemistry or related discipline) with a minimum of 4 yrs relevant experience or a B.S. degree (in chemistry or related discipline) or an M.S degree with no relevant experience.

Overnight Travel:
- Work may require out-of-town travel depending upon assignment (training and meeting).
