What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Director position at Chesterton Art Center?
Chesterton Art Center is seeking a dynamic and creative part-time Marketing Director to join our small, but mighty team. CAC’s Marketing Director crafts our story with a focus on our core mission values and promotes the work of the center across various platforms. The Marketing Director works under the direction of the Executive Director and closely collaborates with CAC’s Program Director and other team members to ensure consistency and quality of messaging and production of promotional materials for CAC exhibitions, education programs, and events. Ability to work some evenings and special events is required.
Part-time hourly payroll position at $18.00/hour
15-20 hours/week with 15 hours on site in person 11am to 4pm for 3 days/week
Responsibilities:
- Build a consistent visual representation of CAC branding and style.
- Build and sustain partnerships with local and regional media sources (print and digital) to access the best quality and most relevant resources to expand CAC’s audience reach.
- Work within marketing budgets for projects of different scales, including our annual Chesterton Art Fair and annual gala fundraiser.
- Update CAC’s website content as needed.
- Appear on scheduled local radio channels to promote CAC programming and events.
- Maintain a vibrant and consistent presence on CAC social media channels that highlights the organization’s priorities.
- Design various print collateral for CAC programs and events as necessary, including a monthly newsletter, exhibition postcards, sponsorship packages, event and program flyers, and print ads.
- Design a monthly e-blast.
- Write and distribute frequent press releases to regional media partners.
- Attend audience-building events as necessary.
- Occasionally represent CAC at community events.
Expectations:
- Maintain a positive and welcoming space at CAC.
- Maintain focus on equity, inclusion and access when telling CAC’s story and working with community members.
- Envision design, branding, and media that broaden CAC’s audience.
- Communicate consistently and authentically with CAC team members and patrons.
- Remain organized and proactive with calendaring all promotion and marketing.
Requirements:
- At least two years of previous professional marketing and/or design experience
- Proactive approach to problem solving.
- Fabulous sense of humor
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
- Proficiency with Squarespace website platform
- Proficiency with Meta Business Suite social media platform
- Proficiency with Google Suites and Microsoft Office
- Competency with Mailchimp
- Photography and video skills preferred, but not required.
- Working knowledge of visual arts and arts education preferred, but not required.
