Chewy is looking for a Release Engineer to join the Platform Engineering organization. This team member will help develop and implement the vision for their team, and thereby help Chewy to accelerate technological growth and reach new customers. This is a high visibility and high impact role with influence that cuts across all of Chewy! The Release Engineering team in the Platform Engineering organization develops and maintains the CI/CD infrastructure with which all Chewy applications and services are built and deployed. Further, in this role you will collaborate across the engineering organization to create standard methodologies and to help to map the overall ecosystem for Chewy's system and service architecture as relates to CI/CD.

Compensation & Benefits:
Our salary range for a Release Engineer II position is $110,500.00 - $176,000.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.

What You'll Do:
- Build CICD pipelines for varied software applications and target platforms
- Configure CICD tooling and other service infrastructure using Terraform
- Compose Gradle build scripts for varied software applications
- Support all aspects of release engineering: source control, software builds, application deployments
- Support software developers and platform engineers for all Release Engineering-owned tools and processes
- Collaborate with other specialists to establish and refine org-wide standard methodologies, service ecosystem, data flows, reference architectures, reusable modules, and tooling
- Contribute to the creation of technical documents that establish the team's future roadmap
- Establish, champion, and implement standards that enable automated test and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
- Develop automated solutions to supervise and support our software development and release processes
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering related field or equivalent work experience
- 5 years of proven track record working in a Release Engineering role or similar
- Skilled at producing results with minimal requirements
- Experience working in public Cloud infrastructure and hybrid cloud environment Amazon Web Services (AWS) Azure, Google Cloud Platform
- Experience with configuration management and continuous deployment
- Experience with software development process (SDLC) and agile/iterative and agile/scrum methodologies required
- Ability to collaborate with partners in order to ensure development efforts align with customer needs
- Experience driving discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, standard methodologies, project management and risk mitigation
- Track record of identifying and driving opportunities for continuous improvement
- Comfortable working in multi-functional and multidisciplinary teams
- Position may require travel
Bonus (if applicable):
- Linux System Administration experience, ideally CentOS, RedHat or SuSE
- Experience with Service Oriented Architecture concepts/architectural approach
- Experience in e-commerce
