What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shift Leader position at Childers Oil?
POSITION SUMMARY Shift Leaders assume all of the duties of an Associate in addition to: having proficiency in using all P.O.S./credit card/pump island systems, demonstrating an advanced level of customer service and possessing a thorough knowledge of store policies and procedures including paperwork and cash balancing procedures as well as training of new associates. The Shift Leader takes a leadership role in the day-to-day store operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential Functions Statement(s)
• Observe staffing schedules and reccommend shedule adjustments when staffing shortages occur.
• Change gas prices per Manager's instructions following Company procedures and security policies.
• Greet customers with specified company greeting and give all customers prompt and courteous service in a friendly manner.
• Open and close cash registers, performing tasks such as counting money, separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchers, balancing cash drawers.
• Maintain knowledge of current promotions and point out the feature of the day or special product offering.
• Receive and process cash or credit card payment. Operate Point of Sale machines.
• Observe customer traffic pattern inside store and recommend product display changes and new specials.
• List any items customers are asking for on customer suggestion form.
• Print and install shelf labels to maintain pricing and price changes as directed by management.
• Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts by customers, employees and vendors and know how to prevent or handle within existing company policy. Protect company assets at all times.
• Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.
• Clean shelves, counters, and tables. Maintain cleanliness and stock supplies in restrooms.
• Follow correct vendor check-in procedure as directed by company policy.
• Perform cigarette counts and maintain logs as directed by management.
• Maintain correct cash levels in register and make timely cash drop per company policy and procedure.
• Follow all safety procedures as directed by company policy.
• Obtain, use and wear company approved safety equipment and apparrel as directed by company policy.
• Comply with laws and policies related to tobacco and alcohol sales.
• Maintain fueling area with a focus on safety and customer service.
• Insure the proper execution of all gasoline marketing programs.
• Complete gasoline housekeeping functions, including cleaning,dusting, sweeping and emptying trash.
• Replenish gasoline/fueling pump island supplies to insure in stock conditions at all times.
• Properly clean equipment and maintain stock levels in the beverage area.
• Report low stock levels to Deli Staff. • Observe potential "out of stocks" and report conditions to manager.
• Be attentive and observe/replenish floor displays and gondola merchandise from existing back stock.
