Who You Are:

The Marketing & Public Relations Manager is a critical internal and external role at JoyRx. The primary responsibilities of the MPRM are: to develop and execute strategic marketing and communications plans, across all channels and digital platforms, to drive brand awareness and garner support for the organization. This person also leads national company-wide brand management efforts, and contributes to the company’s graphic design needs and event brand activations. This individual assists in sharing and curating content for JoyRx, JoyRx Music, and JoyRx Kids YouTube channels, and serves as a spokesperson for the organization through earned media efforts, special events, and community engagement.

This position reports to the Senior Director of Brand Marketing & Communications.

 

Essential Functions

  •  Serve as a leader and liaison with external partners to identify, execute, and track co-branded marketing campaigns.
  • Manage and execute communications, public relations and media strategies to achieve earned media and communications goals, through owned and earned channels. This includes managing departmental activity for weekly marketing email and social media activities, in tandem with the Senior Communications Associate and Marketing/Communications Coordinator.
  • Manage JoyRx.org and all audience-facing digital marketing/fundraising paths and systems associated with our organization.
  • Maintain brand expression guidelines. Work with Senior Director to create, design, and deliver JoyRx digital and printed creative projects, upholding brand design standards, including but not limited to: program brochures, branded collateral, signage, event materials, promotional items, impact reports, websites, emails, social and digital ad units, presentation decks, etc.
  • Be part of the onsite team to activate JoyRx events, support Family Speakers, run of show production needs – including managing artist and celebrity public relations when needed.
  • Serve as the primary Marketing/Brand video lead with the Programs team, and the Senior Video Content Creator. This includes helping manage JoyRx YouTube Channels, and could include assisting with Live Streaming music performances, and/or filming festival artists and content as needed, in tandem with the company’s Senior Video Content Creator.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with all internal JoyRx teams, offering creative perspectives, exploring new approaches, and problem solving in alignment with privacy and brand standards.
  • After six months with the organization, this position will manage the Marketing and Communications Coordinator role; providing coaching, professional development, support, and guidance to ensure high performance and engagement.
  • Manage vendor print files and purchasing decisions as needed. Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator to provide project management and resources allocation support to deliver on business-critical creative needs while achieving budget goals and planning / meeting deadlines.
  • Contributes to the brand guidelines of national expansion and local markets. Contributes to the visual and brand standards of JoyRx.org as well as all social media platforms and paths to give; ensuring updated standards and language.

Skills

  • Dynamic, creative, detail-oriented, and professional
  • Strong inter-personal skills and ability to manage feedback from multiple stakeholders
  • Knowledge of: Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft 365, CRM (Raisers Edge or similar database), MailChimp, YouTube, Google Suite, and comfortability managing and tracking social channels, various digital platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to be self-directed, prioritize and manage multiple projects while working under tight deadlines
  • Strong working knowledge of brand management, print management, budgeting, and vendor relations.
  • Photography direction and editing experience required.
  • Proficiency in HTML is appreciated

 

Education & Experience

 

  • 7 years of professional work experience in non-profit marketing / communications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Marketing, or Communications; Will consider equivalent industry experience or other certification

  • Written Communication - Composes informative and convincing documents. Uses the written language to convey substance and intent with accuracy.

 

Work Environment:

This position is based in the JoyRx Portland, Oregon office. JoyRx offers a hybrid office environment, with both onsite (professional open office environment) days and the ability to work remotely up to two days/week (Mondays & Fridays).

 

Physical Demands:

Per hospital guidelines, vaccines are no longer required.

 

This position requires frequent operation of a computer and other office equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. This position requires the ability to perform basic math and speak, hear, write, and read English. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some occasional lifting is required (up to 20 lbs).

 

Travel: (if needed)

This position requires occasional travel in the Portland Metro.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

This position offers a competitive benefits package and a salary range starting at $65,000. Final offer amounts and levels are determined by multiple factors, including your experience, and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) exempt position. Some flexibility in hours is allowed; days and hours of work are generally Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am – 5:30 pm, and Friday 8:00 am – 12:00 pm, with the option to be remote Mondays and Fridays. This position requires occasional evening hours and weekend work.
