Assists with administration of Children's Mercy's employee benefit programs including but not limited to retirement, health and welfare plans, leaves of absence, income protection and voluntary benefits. Supervision of vendor contract employees including coaching, mentoring, planning and improving processes. Monitors effectiveness and competitiveness of all benefit programs and recommends changes as appropriate. Expedites delivery of benefits by managing relationships with outsourced providers, consultants, insurance carriers and other vendors. Manages and maintains robust communication plan for entire benefit package. Resolves employee questions and problems by interpreting benefit policies and procedures. May independently consult with CFO/EVP, Vice Presidents, department directors and other Human Resources staff on benefit-related matters.

- Responsible for the oversight of benefit plans to ensure the compliance with governmental laws and regulations.
- Manages the applicable plan audits to identity and assess areas of compliance and risk. Provides as needed analysis on plans for effectiveness or competitveness as appropriate. Works closely with third parties including our Retirement plan Administrator, auditor and outside counsel to ensure new laws and regulations are identified and incorporated in our plans.
- Coordinates all regulatory compliance activities including plan restatements, amendments, annual audits, Form 5500 and ACA 1095-C preparation/filing, compliance testing and corrections, and required disclosures. Reconcile 403b Retirement Plan match amounts and determine annual true-up adjustments
- Monitors and analyzes benefit plan utilization patterns, cost trends, enrollment patterns and billing and payment procedures. Identifies market trends, opportunities for improvement and/or cost savings and potential areas of concern. Ensure benefit programs are competitive within the market.
- Supervises the Retirement Plan Coordinator and is available for mentoring coaching and education of all other Benefit and HR staff including contract staff.
- Monitor out of state employees for compliance with state benefit programs and laws and has the oversight of Children's Mercy Affiliated Practices (CMAPs) benefit and retirement plans.
- Plan and deliver a comprehensive benefits communication plan.
- Oversees administration of all employee benefit programs and processes.
- Supervises vendor contract employees
- Continually audits plans and processes to make recommendations for changes to improve efficiency, effectiveness or competitiveness as appropriate.
- Bachelor's Degree and 5-7 years experience Experience managing employee benefit plans for large 5000 organization as well as providing guidance, training and coaching is required. Experience managing a team is also required. or
- HS diploma or equivalent and 7 or more years experience Experience managing employee benefit plans for a large organization
