What are the responsibilities and job description for the Response Coordinator and Health and Wellness Educator position at Choate Rosemary Hall?
The Response Coordinator and Health and Wellness Educator is a year-round, administrative faculty position reporting to the Dean of Students. This role plays a critical role in promoting a safe and inclusive school environment by ensuring that all allegations of hazing, harassment, bullying, and/or sexual misconduct are handled with sensitivity, fairness, and in compliance with legal and school policies and guidelines. Secondarily, this role develops and implements programming that meets the mental, emotional, and physical health needs of our student community.
Essential Functions:
Response Coordinator (75%)
- Oversees and conducts comprehensive investigations of allegations of hazing, harassment, bullying, and sexual misconduct.
- Investigates and analyzes information, draws conclusions, and summarizes in writing those conclusions clearly, effectively, and in a timely manner.
- Offers support to affected parties when investigating a concern.
- Is available as needed during the evening and on weekends to accommodate the schedules of students and faculty members in a residential setting.
- Facilitates conflict resolution and/or preventive measures when appropriate.
- Designs and implements programming for raising awareness of and preventing hazing, harassment, bullying, and sexual misconduct.
- Remains informed of federal and state laws related to bullying, hazing, discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct; remains informed of mandatory reporting laws and process in Connecticut.
- Coordinates appropriate training for faculty members, wellness providers, and health services providers.
- Collaborates with Deans and members of the Dean’s Office around allegations and investigations. Similarly collaborates with Choate Summer Programs admin team for allegations that arise during Summer Programs.
- Creates and appropriately updates a bullying, hazing, and harassment policy.
Health and Wellness Educator (25%)
- Designs, teaches, and coordinates wellness programming at each grade level.
- Uses wellness data to inform and adjust wellness programming.
- Provides 5-week curriculum for Summer Programs (five 60-minute sessions)
