What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inpatient Medical Coder position at Choice Medical Group?
JOB SUMMARY
Review/audit medical records to insure correct coding. Reviewing reports (COVID, Sepsis, High Dollar amount, Highest Paid DRG, others) on pending and processed claims; review claims for appeal/PDR from providers; any special projects assigned; any other tasks assigned by Supervisor/Manager/Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
· CPC and CIC/COC/CCS Coding Certification (AAPC or AHIMA certified)
· ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS proficient with Medical Terminology and Anatomy knowledge
· Minimum two (2) years’ coding experience, preferably in hospital coding
· Experience in third-party contracting, negotiating, reimbursements and analysis.
SKILLS
· Must have effective communication, facilitation, interpersonal and professional diplomacy skills.
· Strong attention to detail with ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
· Able to Problem-solve, negotiate and demonstrate independent decision-making.
· Strong communication skills in both oral and written form.
· Positive attitude and takes a team approach to management.
· Maintain strong skills in diplomacy, professionalism and trustworthiness.
· Familiarity with Microsoft applications, which include the ability to learn new computer systems and applications.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
· Detail oriented with desire for producing work with 100% accuracy.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
