What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Technologist Certified, Ambulatory Surgery Center - Full time position at Christus Health?
Summary:
Performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients. Prepares patient skin for surgery in accordance with hospital standards. Maintains aseptic techniques; actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique. Provides comfort and support for pre-operative patients by demonstrating sensitivity to patient's care and privacy. Transports patients to and from Operating Room suite. Positions patients according to type of surgery. Identifies and cares for biological specimens. Prepares the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments and supplies according to type of case.
Requirements:
A.Education/Skills
* Hired before September 1, 2009 - Graduation from an accredited school of Surgical Technology or at least one year of verified scrub tech experience.
* Hired after September 1, 2009 - Graduate from an accredited school of Surgical Technology required.
B. Experience
* Six months' experience preferred
C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
* Hired before September 1, 2009 - No certification required. CPR required. Hired after September 1, 2009 - Must obtain certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting prior to 1st day of orientation.
* AHA CPR required.
