Job DescriptionBASIC POSITION FUNCTION:
Responsible for materials technical/production support,Materials process/product development of Aerospace and Industrial gas turbine systems.Material aspects of the Reverse Engineering of Aerospace Engine Components.Assists with metallurgical and heat treatment of aftermarket engine component repair processes.Experience with Ni base superalloy microstructure/phase constituentsLaboratory experience such as metallurgical lab sample cutting, mounting, polishing and evaluation. Optical microscopy, SEM analysis and hardness testingExperience in Ni base investment cast process (DS/SX)Knowledge of Turbine Airfoil CoatingsExperience with failure analysis/root causeUnderstanding of Engineering materials specificationsOEM experience is a plus
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/TASKS:
- Design Report Writing for Reverse Engineering of Engine Components
- Conduct materials analyses of new and repaired turbine, compressor, and combustor components
- Determining Heat treatment of various alloys based on microstructure and mechanical properties
- Optimize the production process, product designusinga robust leanproblem-solvingmethodology, with quantifiable impact to business metrics
- Develop KPIs to effectively manage process and product outcomes
- Utilize project management skills to lead assigned projects/programs to successful completion considering technical, budgetary, manpowerand schedule requirements
- Collaborate effectivelyin a multi-disciplinary teamenvironmentto develop component designsandrepairs;which meetsite, Chromalloy andcustomer requirements for cost, performance, and durability.
- Engage with the other engineersat the siteto collaborate on projects and development of robust solutions impacting site operationaland financialperformance,utilizing CPEX tools;positively impacting the end customer
- Make technical decisions onmaterialdesign and providedefinitiontothe teamto ensuremutual success.
- Own all technical aspectsofassignedcomponentsand or processesfrom initial conceptthrough allmanufacturing stages.
- Identify, developand implement tooling/equipment improvements. Troubleshoot process/production problems and implement actions/solutions, monitor sustainability of actions and report out results.
- Prepareaccuratewritten technical reports, specifications, procedures, and manuals
- Prepare anddeliverpresentations of work toall levels ofexternal and internal customers
- Train and mentorless experiencedtechnical staffWorkin manufacturing, lab and field environments. Occasional travel required.

EXPERIENCE:
8-12yearsofexperience in the Aerospaceor Industrial gas turbine enginematerials application/selection.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/PROFICIENCIES:
- Cutting, Mounting, Polishing and Etching superalloys
- Struers lab equipment cutting/mounting/vacuum impregnation/polishing/Hardness (Secotom/Discotom/Exotom/Citopress/CitoVac/Tegramin/DuraScan/DuraJet)
- SEM microscopy (Tescan Mira and Vega)
- Ziess Optical Microscopes
- Knowledge of gas turbine manufacturing processes,
- Understanding ofaerodynamic, performance, and heat transfer disciplines
- Understanding ofall aspects of airfoil manufacturing(casting, machining, ...etc.)and inspections
- Interpretation of engineering drawings and materials specifications
- Knowledge of FAA guidelines forPMA and RS-DER requirements andcompliance testingpreferred
- Thoughtful andeffective communications skills
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office softwareincluding Word, Excel,PowerPoint, and Project
- Minitab
