Summary:
The Engineering Center of Excellence is the hub of the design and testing of Chromalloy's product technology. The Materials Lab Technician will conduct detailed material evaluations of components for Aerospace and Industrial gas turbine engines.
Essential Duties:
- Prepare high-quality metallographic specimens from Aero and IGT gas turbine components.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot metallurgy lab equipment, including cut-off saws, grinder and polisher units, light optical microscopes, and hardness testers.
- Perform material evaluations in accordance with customer specifications and/or applicable standardized test methods.
- Ensure all material testing is accomplished according to ISO 17025 accredited procedures, where applicable.
- Record test results in appropriate laboratory forms.
- Conduct internal calibration of metallurgy lab equipment and maintain calibration records.
- Coordinate with external suppliers for calibration of test standards.
- Maintain laboratory readiness and limit downtime in the event of equipment malfunction.
- Support design engineers by identifying current testing capabilities best suited for specific work requests.
- Assist the laboratory manager in the development of new testing capabilities and prepare written test methods to meet the requirements of ISO 17025 accreditation.
- Prepare written technical reports, specifications, procedures, and manuals.
- Prepare and present work to internal customers.
- Handle movement of gas turbine parts and miscellaneous equipment through-out facility.
- Work in a lab and field environments.
- Occasional travel required.
INDCCTC
- Associates Degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
- 3 to 5 years of previous work experience within Aerospace Manufacturing
