Role overview:
The Social Media Specialist is responsible for helping to drive the strategy and development, coordination, and implementation of social media and blogging efforts at Ciena. Reporting directly into our global social media program owner within our larger Digital Engagement team, this person will share in ownership and active management of our Ciena social media profiles, and act as the social media support lead for several of our key solutions, regions, and programs.
The Social Media Specialist will build relationships with other key members across Ciena’s marketing organization in order to integrate social media strategies and activities into our holistic campaigns and digital engagement efforts.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Actively lead our social media strategy and execution of tasks across several of our key Ciena solutions, regions, and programs, to help them achieve their marketing and communications goals. This includes both organic and paid social efforts.
- Work closely with our solution experts on the creation of thought leadership content for our Ciena blog.
- Collaborate with our CSR/ESG team on social media strategies and activities focused on Ciena people and culture, sustainability, employee activities, as well as talent acquisition and recruiting.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a field related to marketing or communications.
- At least 5 years experience within a complex marketing organization. B2B experience a plus.
- Demonstrated history and skill with writing, editing, and content creation.
- Experience navigating complex cross-functional teams and projects.
- Able to manage both high-level strategic thinking and the detailed, day-to-day execution of plans
- Experience with creating, targeting, executing, tracking, and reporting on paid social media campaigns, and especially LinkedIn paid social campaigns, is preferred
- Experience with graphics and video design/creation a plus.
