 Technical Sign Designer / Graphic Sign Designer


 

POSITION SUMMARY:  

 

As a Sign Designer, you will be responsible for the creation of accurate, detailed, computer aided drawings, that will be utilized for the sales, manufacturing and installation of signage. Drawings you will be required to work on, will be conceptual through technical. Designs will be used for sales purposes as well as manufacturing, permitting, engineering seals and installation.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Service our customer’s needs, daily, in a timely and friendly manner.
  • Creation of detailed manufacturing drawings, to scale, from art renderings both designed in house and customer provided.
  • Generate drawings to detail the structure framing, electrical components, section details and sign dimensions. Drawings will also include foundation sizes, support structure size and type required from engineering calculations.
  • Make sure signs and technical details are proactively managed from the survey thru manufacturing, transportation and installation.

Deliverables will include, but are not limited to, conceptual sign design with environmental considerations for placement, access, readability and practicality. Being proactive on behalf of our customers to provide accurate information and quality designs.  From the technical aspect, you will be accountable for accurate details in hardware, sizes, material requirements and availability, finishes, electrical requirements, installation details, logistic requirements, etc.  

  • Be sensitive to time constraints dictated by the customer. Must be able to manage time and at times, multiple priorities effectively while working in a creative team environment.
  • This position requires a solutions-oriented approach, clearly applied in the form of comprehensive sign drawings.
  • Proactive communication with peers and management of concerns to meet client expectations
  • Work towards becoming proficient in software such as but not limited to Sketch Up and Corel Draw

 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • 2 years of sign layout or design experience, preferred
  • Undergraduate degree a plus
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Ability to handle pressure situations
  • Must be proficient in computers and technology
  • Experience with 3D rendering software a plus
  • Work in fast pace environment
  • Must be able to multi task and stay organized
  • Must be able to work in team environment
  • Must excel at customer service
  • Must be able to take direction

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing essential functions of the job. Typical office conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Travel is minimal with most contact with customers by phone and correspondence.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle controls (keyboard, phone); and talk or hear. Occasional standing, walking, stooping is required. Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.

Must be comfortable with entering shop for product review in the fabrication area. This area can be loud. This area may have fumes or airborne particles present. You could be exposed to working machinery as well as some exposure to variable temperatures.
