What are the responsibilities and job description for the Global Commercial Oversight Director (Hybrid) position at Citi?
This position resides in the Citi Commercial Risk Management group and is broadly responsible for portfolio oversight and chief administrative officer like duties. As part of the Commercial Risk Management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the global commercial oversight office. The individual will collaborate with Independent Risk, Commercial Lending Risk Management and other cross functional teams to ensure sound risk management and monitoring of the commercial portfolio. The individual will coordinate to provide any deliverables for internal or external audits / exams. The individual will work closely with the Commercial Business and Risk Management leaders around the globe. The position will have direct reports, which will require excellent people development skills as well as effective negotiation, coaching / mentoring, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities & Collaborative Points
Manage and coordinate the following oversight activities within the commercial risk organization.
- Risk reporting projects driven by CORA initiatives including Commercial Bank sponsor for the annual review and update of the Basel parameters such as PD, LGD, EAD and CCF, affecting Bank’s Capital adequacy.
- Annual update of the Global Commercial Credit Program and Country appendices and other commercial bank operating manuals.
- Industry analytics and limit monitoring.
- Material Risk Inventory review and challenge.
- Prepare ad hoc presentations for internal needs (various risk committees, town halls, etc.) as well as the Bank’s Regulators (FRB, OCC, FDIC)
- Assist the Commercial Bank CRO as needed representing the Commercial Bank in various Working Groups, Councils and Committees. For example, the Wholesale CECL/CCAR Senior Governance Group and Senior Advisory Group, quarterly and annual Management Controls Assessment, etc.
- Assist the Commercial Bank CRO to manage the Commercial Bank organizational design, budget and headcount within target and evaluate adequate staffing resources.
- Other projects and initiatives. For example, implementation of the WCR Target Operating Model, and Consent Order regulatory deliverables.
- Interface and coordinate with Technology teams regarding system development and enhancements.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in a large, sophisticated risk management organization within a major wholesale commercial and industrial business. This individual will bring a strong analytical orientation, an appreciation for broad-based risk issues and a familiarity with risk and reporting systems and portfolio management. This person will have a demonstrated record of performance including responsibility for balanced portfolio growth and profitability in a sophisticated, fast-paced commercial credit environment. This experience is complimented by excellent overall business and risk judgment. The position understands the short-and long-term profit dynamics for risk in various products and portfolios, as well as the complete commercial loan cycle and regulatory environment.
· BA/BS degree is required preferably in Quantitative Fields such as Economics, Accounting, or Business Finance (Master’s degree preferred).
· 10 years experience in commercial risk management or equivalent training and experience preferably in the financial services industry. Senior Credit Officer designation preferred.
· Candidate must have 2 years of people management / leadership experience / manage remote teams.
· Demonstrated ability to synthesize, prioritize and drive results with a high sense of urgency.
· Strong communications/presentation skills, capable of interacting effectively with multiple levels.
· Ability to obtain support and buy-in across a wide range of stakeholders; create a strong network of relationships among peers, internal partners, external constituencies, decision makers and stakeholders.
· Strong influencing, negotiating, and facilitation skills.
