What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advanced IT Technician position at Citrus County Board of County Commissioners?
This is a career opportunity with the Supervisor of Election’s office in Information Technology and Election Services. The applicant must be able to take a leadership role in maintaining the network. Includes writing standard operating procedures and the ability to read and understand Florida Statutes. Assist with set up of the early voting sites and warehouse projects. Must be detail oriented and self-motivated with the ability to multitask and work independently as well as in a team. This is a fast-paced position in a constantly changing environment.
Please Note: This position is pending budget approval at the end of September.
- Maintain network including hardware and software upgrades, server backup and restore, software patching, disaster recovery, continuity of operations, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS and maintain archiving software.
- Cyber security, anti-malware, and firewall maintenance.
- Maintain servers, computers, software, and hardware components including asset inventory, documentation, and disposal.
- Support staff with desktop applications.
- Write and maintain policies and procedures for the IT department to include the Acceptable Use of Technology information.
- Liaison for vendor support with hardware/software, Service Level Agreements, and contracts.
- Maintain a working budget for technology purchases, hardware/software, and maintenance fees.
- During election season, assist with tabulation, canvassing, and training for elections.
- Maintain/assist with election equipment preparation
- Assist with Early Vote and Precinct setup/tear down, packing and loading of election supplies.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures.
- Perform customer service with updates to voter registration records.
- Assist with voter outreach outside the office as needed.
- Familiarize self with current Election Laws, rules, procedures, and SOE resources.
- Assist the Supervisor of Elections in special projects and special assignments.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education, Training, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Information Technology, network management or equivalent degree.
- OR: Four (4) or more years of progressively responsible experience and/or any equivalent, combination of education, experience, and training (SEC , A , Network , CISM etc.) that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, may be substituted for the education requirements.
Residency
- As this position is required to occasionally work after normal business hours, you must reside within Citrus County and be able to report to work within 30 minutes should an emergency arise.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
- Proficient in word processing and Microsoft Office suite software.
- Effectively work with employees and the public.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and management of priorities.
- Knowledge to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Understand and implement Florida Statutes as they apply to election laws.
- Must possess and maintain a FL driver’s license in good standing.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge of Exchange, SQL, and VMWare.
- Cyber security certification such as CISM, GSEC, or CISSP
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, although not required, is considered an advantage.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be able to work overtime as needed during an election cycle.
- The job involves occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Requires a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
- The job requires frequent bending, squatting, and balancing, and on occasion crawling, climbing, kneeling, throwing, twisting, and reaching above shoulders.
- The job requires the completion of tasks that involves simple grasping and fine manual manipulation, and occasional pushing, pulling, operating foot controls/levers, and driving automotive equipment.
- The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, depth perception and color vision, hearing, and speaking.
- The job may require exposure to adverse and/or severe weather conditions.
