Job Summary
Within a team environment, the Line Lead - Process Engineer is responsible for process development and improvement initiatives within the Company. The Process Engineer will interface directly with City Brewing departments to design, maintain and improve organizational practices and manufacturing processes across a specific manufacturing packaging line.
This position requires a high level of technical competence and ability to grow competitive capabilities of the Company. It also requires that this individual understands company philosophy and helps achieve customer service and other company goals. Finally, this position requires an individual who is planful, articulate and above all else, resourceful to accomplish required objectives.
Monday-Friday 6am-3pm, needs to be flexible with hours
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, communicate, implement, manage and evaluate organizational project plans
- Review organizational quality data in order to identify areas of improvement
- Develop, improve, and implement process improvements and efficiencies
- Interface with departments on an assigned basis to research problems and inefficiencies
- Submit complete financial justifications for proposed equipment or other process-related capital
- Prioritize and re-prioritize open projects as needed
- Instill sense of urgency concerning high quality project completions
- Must be able to work alone and be able to provide a hands-on approach to own problem solving
- Assist Deparment Heads/Managers/ Supervisors in trouble-shooting process problems
- Review and evaluate existing and new processes
- Maintain flexible time scheduling for test/pilot projects.
- “Fire fight” process and production-related problems as needed.
- Utilize talents of other support personnel.
- Research equipment and machining needs for manufacturing efficiency
- Train production personnel to process improvement specification
- Maintain a neat and safe work area
- Follow departmental safety practices and procedures
- Be a positive role model and demonstrate the ability to lead people and get results through others
- Cooperatively work with others Managers/ Supervisors by not placing his/her own department above the needs of the company as a whole
- Develops and improves manufacturing methods for the production of product
- This may include the selection, specification or machinery design/redesign to achieve the stated objected. It may also mean changes of production methods
- Interfaces with vendors and brings their knowledge and experience into the manufacturing practice when and where applicable.
- Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
- College graduate with related four-year degree preferred, including courses with manufacturing focus
- Manufacturing experiencing totalling 4-8 years desirable, including supervisory responsibilities
- Knowledge and use of statistical tools
- Demonstrated motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Willingness to adopt and express a view that may differ from that of organizational leadership
- Strong communication & presentation skills
- Proven problem-solving ability
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task under continuously changing business priorities
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and 5S is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong Mathmetical/Analytical Skills
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
- Position calls for self-motivated, self-directed person with broad general knowledge
