What are the responsibilities and job description for the Biopark Registrar position at City of Albuquerque?
Perform a variety of animal registration, professional, technical and administrative duties related to the BioParks animal records and reporting systems. Developing and maintaining these systems, providing consultative services regarding state, federal, and professional animal permitting, shipping, receiving, inventory, display, husbandry and other requirements. Serves as a resource to the department, departments administration and other agencies regarding professional and legislative developments.

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Bachelor's degree in records management or business administration; and
Three (3) years records management experience; and
To include one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
- Federal, state and international laws and regulations applicable to animal acquisition, disposition, exhibition, husbandry standards, registration and transportation domestically and internationally
- Animal registration software and records applications
- Zoological Information Management Systems (ZIMS) Botanical collections database (Iris BG), and Zoos and Aquariums
- Basic operations, services and activities of biological park collection records management program
- Animal science, exotic animal species, conservation issues and safety precautions
- Zoological nomenclature and medical terminology
- Operational characteristics of data management systems
- Principles and practices of program development and implementation
- Principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation
- Principles and procedures of record keeping and reporting
- Modern office equipment including computers
- Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and safety regulations
- Maintain accurate and detailed records documenting a variety of animal and plant collection and care activities
- Coordinate and direct biological park collection records management programs
- Ensure adherence to applicable records management regulations
- Recommend and implement goals and objectives for providing records management services
- Review records of animal and plant management programs and recommend improvements
- Interpret and explain City policies and procedures
- Prepare clear and concise reports
- Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Allocate limited resources in a cost effective manner
- Communicate clearly and concisely
