A Fiscal Officer coordinates and manages the fiscal activities and operations of the Mayor's Office. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities but will involve lead responsibilities such as assigning and reviewing the work of office personnel engaged in fiscal and administrative activities.
Incumbents receive moderate supervision from an administrative superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in an office where working conditions are normal. Work requires minimal physical exertion.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements : A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in performing budgetary, fiscal, or accounting work at a professional level.
Equivalencies: Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Plans and directs the fiscal functions of the Mayor’s Office including the development and implementation of new budgetary and fiscal procedures and policies.
- Performs budget analysis of operations for guidance of management by reviewing and reporting on expenditures.
- Consults with Directors and Deputy Directors with fiscal and administrative activities for reviewing the budget for agencies along with expenditure to consult on fiscal yearly and closeout.
- To be the liaison for executive staff to be knowledgeable of fiscal budget; to monitor and recommend the budget expenditures.
- Compiles data and prepares agency fiscal budget; monitors and approves budget expenditures.
- Prepares cash flow projections and determines budgetary impacts; makes recommendations to senior management staff.
- May exercise control over grant funds allotted to Mayor’s Office; audits expenditures for compliance with grant terms; arrange for an audit of agency or program accounts by grantors.
- Prepares and verifies a variety of fiscal forms and reports for submission to the Federal and State governments.
- Coordinating and preparing any annual reports; working with executive staff and team to develop long-term financial plans and strategies.
- Interprets financial policies and procedures for executive-level staff.
- Performs related work as required.
- Knowledge of fiscal and budgetary principles and practices.
- Ability to develop budgetary and administrative procedures.
- Ability to speak and write effectively.
- Ability to establish fiscal procedures and forms.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, officials, and others.
- Administrative ability.
