Home to approximately 82,000 residents, The City of Baytown, Texas, is a full-service municipal government situated on the north side of Galveston Bay. We are seeking an individual who experienced in and passionate about planning to join our Planning and Community Development team as Planning Manager.
The Planning Manager manages, coordinates and conducts review and processing of land development applications. Directs and supervises work performed by planners and support staff. Researches, prepares and carries out comprehensive, professional activities related to special studies (e.g., annexation studies), neighborhood plans, zoning map amendments, and the Comprehensive Plan. Leads land use, demographic and economic data gathering, research and analysis, and other special projects as assigned. Participates in the more challenging and complex projects in the development review process by acting as case manager and/or by coordinating with applicants and city departments, especially the Building Services Division and Engineering Department. Creates and maintains GIS layer data for the purposes of land use analysis or for publication to the City's online GIS maps. Prepares written and oral reports and recommendations to City Council, Planning and Zoning Commission, as well as other advisory bodies.REQUIRED:
1. Bachelor's degree in City Planning or a related field from an accredited college or university.
2. Three (3) years of professional planning experience.
3. Experience with ArcMap.
4. Ability to obtain AICP within a year of employment.
5. Prior supervisory experience.
6. Valid State of Texas Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
PREFERRED:
- Master's degree in City Planning or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Bilingual.
- AICP certification.
