General Summary:
Answer and field incoming phone lines. Scheduling and dispatching for both regular fixed routes and Call-a-Bus services. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment with a diversity of riders. Preferably available weekdays until 4:15 pm. Works independently.
Responsibilities:
- Schedules of Call-a-Bus services as well as navigating the scheduling software after being trained on software
- Processes Call-a-Bus applications
- Answers phone calls regarding scheduling and general route questions, as well as screening calls, directing calls to appropriate individuals and recording messages.
- Manages different passenger situations diplomatically
- Enters data into several forms, reports, and programs
- Greets visitors coming into the office, determines nature of business, and answers their questions or directs them to the appropriate individual
- Reviews and distributes incoming mail and correspondence
- Performs a variety of clerical tasks such as: keyboarding, arranging and maintain the filing system, ordering supplies, operating office machines, radio, computer, and collection and assembling information
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word
- Duties within the Tyler Munis and Executime systems: including but not limited to claims payment, payroll, and after training, compliance/federal reimbursement paperwork and tracking
- Additional administrative tasks as necessary
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED preferred; additional education in bookkeeping, Microsoft
Office Suite, Office administration preferred
- Experience in a fast paced office setting required
- Knowledge of Columbus City streets and ability to give directions preferred; will train the right candidate
- Experience with Tyler Munis and/or Executime a plus; will train the right candidate
**All Transit employees who hold a safety-sensitive position (dispatching) are subject to the following: drug testing and criminal background check prior to hiring and participation in random drug testing in compliance with DOT regulations and as such will be placed in the DOT – FTA drug testing pool.
This position is subject to the City’s Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Program which includes: pre- employment testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return-to-duty testing and follow-up testing.
