What are the responsibilities and job description for the Court Supervisor position at City of DeSoto?
The purpose of this position is to complete a variety of complex supervisory support tasks for the court. This is accomplished by preparing, processing and reconciling a variety of documents and records; managing case flows and trials for the court; responding to requests and inquiries; supervising staff; processing and entering court information; processing payments, subpoenas and warrants; setting cases for trial; and responding to attorneys. Other duties include maintaining records and information.
- Manages the court case flows by evaluating pending caseloads and adjusting dockets as needed; developing and implementing systems supporting court calendar managements; managing delinquent cases; identifying and resolving work or performance gaps; and designating and assigning case monitoring.
- Manages trials by working with the prosecutor preparing documents; reviewing information; entering data; setting dates and times; notifying potential jurors; informing defendants of case dates; preparing dockets; processing post-trial monies and records; and reviewing post-docket reports.
- Supervises staff by monitoring and evaluating performance; recommending staffing levels; reviewing service delivery methods; and scheduling and assigning tasks.
- Completes administrative duties by sorting and distributing mail; processing judicial correspondence; updating court calendars; processing warrant information, bonds, accident and jail information; answering the phone and responding to inquiries; communicating with outside agencies; and ensuring all records are filed and retained.
- Provides administrative support by answering the phone and referring callers; processing correspondence and requests from defendants; receiving payments; scheduling payment plans; processing deferred disposition cases; overseeing court payments; and compiling and maintaining reports and documents.
- High School graduation or equivalent
- Five years of court experience with at least two years in a lead or supervisory capacity
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, the public, and elected and appointed officials
- Level I or Level II court clerk certification, or the ability to obtain level II within 6 months of employment
- Ability to be certified for TCIC/NCIC and TLETS
- Skill in the operation and use of standard office software which includes databases and presentation programs, along with standard Microsoft products
