What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scorekeeper - Softball, Part Time position at City of Durango?
Keep score and time at athletic/sporting events.
- Report a minimum of one-half hour prior to the start of athletic contests.
- Assist site supervisor in the setup of all required and necessary equipment in order to get games started on time.
- Assist in completely filling out and submitting all incident/accident reports in a timely manner.
- Assist proper clean-up after all games have taken place. Return equipment to proper location, throwing away trash and bringing any belongings left behind to the lost and found.
- Fill out and submit timecard for hours worked in a timely manner.
- Closely follow all games and keep the score by operating either a manual or electronic scoreboard.
- Document vital game information on an official score sheet including game details as needed, i.e. fouls, time outs, points, etc.
- Assist the site supervisor as needed in handling any unruly fans, players or coaches.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skill and Ability
Knowledge of:
Operations, services, and activities of a City Parks and Recreation program.
Appropriate techniques for dealing with conflict resolution and disputes.
Ability to:
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
Maintain mental capacity that allows the capability of effectively interacting and communicating with others.
Work Environment:
Indoor and outdoor recreational facilities, irregular work hours and weekends; may work in or around water and slippery surfaces.
Periods of mobility with light and heavy physical activity.
Physical Activities:
Ability to effectively interact with other individuals (participants, co-workers, public, children, etc.);
Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, reach, carry, grasp and turn objects;
Ability to climb stairs; and stand, sit and walk for up to 60 minutes at a time;
Acceptable eyesight to read printed material and a computer monitor and to operate
equipment;
Acceptable hearing to communicate with others in person or through telephonic means;
Acceptable verbal and conversation skills to effectively communicate with others via the phone, at meetings and to greet and assist participants and spectators.
Education or Formal Training and Licenses: Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance. CPR/First aide/AED certified or the ability to get certified preferred.
Experience: Prefer general knowledge of specific sports as a scorekeeper. Prefer experience in working with the public.
