The City of Escanaba is seeking one qualified applicant for the full-time position of Laborer in the Water/Wastewater Department.

Essential job functions include the following:

  • Identify, locate and repair leaks.
  • Maintain, test and repair fire hydrants, stop gates, and other valves.
  • Install and tap water service connections of various sizes.
  • Install maintain, chlorinate and repair water mains.
  • Maintain wells.
  • Locate and mark buried distribution water lines and valves.
  • Maintain records on valves, curb stops, and hydrants.
  • Requisition materials and equipment.
  • Communicate with customers regarding service interruptions and related issues.
  • Restore streets lawns and sidewalks after excavation.
  • Perform Customer Service work as required.
  • Perform maintenance at both water and wastewater plants.
  • Assistant in the cleaning and maintenance of the collection system.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and a valid Michigan Driver’s license.

Starting pay is $21.65 per hour with a competitive fringe benefits package.
