What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard (Seasonal) position at City of Eudora?
The City of Eudora is accepting applications for Lifeguards. The position is responsible for ensuring the safety of Eudora citizens and community visitors to the Eudora aquatic facilities. The Lifeguards work under minimal supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director.
Pool Hours
Monday - Thursday: 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Friday - Sunday: 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Job Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to)
· Observe and enforce all rules and regulations of the facility to prevent accidents or emergency situations.
· Educate and inform patrons of the rules and regulations of the facility.
· Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility.
· Respond quickly to all emergencies and administer first aid as needed
· Help to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary facility.
· Communicate with the lifeguard team and facility staff for additional assistance in an emergency.
· Provide quality customer service for our patrons.
· Complete all appropriate daily paperwork during assigned shifts
Minimum Qualifications
· Must be 15 years of age.
· Possess good customer service skills and emergency response.
· Must have current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR, and First Aid/AED certifications, or ability to obtain prior to employment date. The City of Eudora does offer the Lifeguard Training classes to candidates.
· Ability to work with individuals of all ages.
· Ability to maintain professional skills of alertness, responsible, good judgement, and cleanliness.
Physical Requirements
An employee must meet the physical demands described here to successfully perform the position’s essential functions. The employee must frequently walk, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, hand, feel, or operate objects; and reach out with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee can occasionally be required to stand for extended periods. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to swim 200 yards, retrieve 10 pounds of weight from a minimum of 9 feet, tread water for two minutes. The employee must be able to withstand temperature extremes and high exposure to sun.
Pay
Starting at $10.50 per hour
