BUILDING INSPECTOR II (ELECTRICAL)
Pay Range: $28.13-$39.59

NATURE OF WORK
This is skilled inspectional work in securing and maintaining compliance with local and national codes and regulations governing building construction, and related construction. Work requires inspecting a variety of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building installations and determining whether plans, workmanship, and materials conform with legally established requirements.
The employee works independently on field inspections and must make decisions exercising technical judgment; superior is available for consultation and direction on more difficult and unusual cases. Work is subject to periodic checks and reviews by a technical superior.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
- Considerable knowledge of the methods and practices involved in constructing, installing, maintaining and operating a variety of electrical installations, equipment, and appliances desirable
- Knowledge of local and national regulations and laws relating to electrical appliances, and installations desirable
- Ability to understand and work from plans, drawings, and diagrams
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from high school
- Minimum of five years experience as a journeyman electrician; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Nebraska driver’s license
- Must possess a Nebraska Journeyman Electrical License
- Must pass Nebraska Electrician Inspection test within 6 months
- Must pass ICC Certified Building Inspection exam within 1 year
