The City of Gresham’s Finance and Accounting Services Division is seeking detailed-oriented critical thinkers to fill two Accountant 2 positions. The first position is a regular-status, full-time position that is responsible for reconciliation and analysis of various City revenues, and preparation of the City’s Indirect Cost Rate Proposal and Cost Allocation Plan. The second position is a limited term position expected to last one year, participating in a project to implement a new timekeeping system, as well as oversight and review of payroll processing.
The work location for these positions is in the office at Gresham City Hall (1333 NW Eastman Parkway). A remote or hybrid schedule may be considered. The remote location must be in or near the Portland-Vancouver Metropolitan area.

What you will get to do:
- Analysis: Analyze the City’s financial and personnel cost detail to prepare the City’s Indirect Cost Proposal and Central Service Cost Allocation Plan and produce billable rates for use in charging for services provided by City staff.
- Accounting and Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliations of several subsidiary systems to the General Ledger to ensure all related financial activity is properly included and reported in the City’s financial reporting.
- System Implementation and Testing: Participate in configuration and testing of timekeeping system implementation.
- Business Process Improvement: Work with payroll, human resources and other management/staff as appropriate to design and implement improvements to payroll and tax-related processes and processes used to track and analyze City revenues and related activity, researching available system functionality or other tools available to improve efficiency, accuracy and controls around related processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree with major course work in Finance, Accounting or related field
- One to four years of full-time, professional accounting experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a public agency
- Effective oral and written communications skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse audience
- Knowledge of principles and practices related to governmental (fund) accounting and budgeting, payroll processing and accounting, and internal controls
- Demonstrated experience in project initiation, planning, organization and completion
- Intermediate to Advanced skills in Excel or equivalent spreadsheet software
