The team's legal work also supports City operations and programs for small business incentives, local purchasing, financing economic development projects, internal operations, rental housing inspections, public/private partnerships, citizen involvement, code enforcement, innovative land use initiatives, and other programs.

- Court procedures and rules of evidence.
- DEI principles, including a general understanding of systemic inequities and their impacts on historically marginalized groups.
- Exercise professional judgment under supervision
- Analyze and evaluate routine factual legal issues and organize, interpret and apply legal principles
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with city staff and officials
- Conduct complex legal research and review and prepare legal documents.
- Effectively represent the city, under supervision, in court and at administrative hearings
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Effectively use the City’s technology resources and software.
- Identify inequitable barriers and propose solutions to create equitable and inclusive systems and outcomes.
- Graduation from an accredited law school
- Active member in good standing in the Oregon State Bar or ability to become an Oregon State Bar member through reciprocity within six months of hire
- One to four years general legal experience
- Interest in land use, employment law, public contracting, code enforcement, civil rights and nondiscrimination, litigation, and/or general governmental law
