JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: GIS MAPPING COORDINATOR
DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC SERVICES
CLASSIFICATION: FULL TIME REGULAR – NON-EXEMPT
PAY GRADE: 15 ( $48,931 - $75,775)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Develops and maintains Geographic Information System (GIS) Mapping database and assists in technical work in the field and office in connection with the investigation, design, construction, inspection, and maintenance of public services projects under the direct supervision of the Development Services Manager or his/her designee.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Creates, manipulates, and maintains Geographic Information System (GIS) data using Diamond Maps, ESRI, and AutoCAD software.
- Participates and works with field crew, clerical staff, technicians, and engineers.
- Investigates and assist in technical problem-solving and perform engineering calculations.
- Supervises, assists, and performs locating of underground utilities
- Assists and performs with asset management plan database, data gathering processing, and planning for capital improvement projects
- Calculates grades, and establishes and verifies elevations and alignments using surveying equipment, computers, and calculators.
- Reviews drawings for compliance with city requirements.
- Creates maps using traditional terrestrial and UAS/drone technology.
- Collects GIS data using GNSS surveying technology.
- Performs quality control for GIS data collected.
- Prepares and implements Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for receiving as-built utility data from Developers and Engineers of Record for new development and ties that information back into the City’s GIS
- Inputs Requestions/POs as required.
- Writes memos for City Council Meetings and other functions as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned-required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of GIS Mapping database management including data gathering, acquisition, interpretation, and conversion to mapping systems. Knowledge of ESRI, AutoCAD, and other basic engineering software. Interprets and understands; Basic trigonometry, terminology, methods, practices, and techniques of engineering design and computer-aided design/drafting; methods, materials, practices, and techniques of bridge, road, street, and other public works construction projects; surveying practices and techniques, including use and adjustments of modern surveying equipment.
Ability to work performing field measurements and tests as directed, including engineering and surveying computations; apply engineering principles and practices; apply computer technology; problem solve in the field of public works; communicate effectively orally and in writing;
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate's Degree or higher with major coursework in planning, computer science, geography (GIS), engineering, or a related field. Two years of progressively responsible experience related to database design, analysis, automated mapping, or Arc/ESRI GIS functions. Experience with Surveying/GNSS systems, AutoCAD, database management, public infrastructure design, drone mapping, and construction is a plus.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
Possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License
GISP (Certified GIS Professional)
FAA Part 107 Small UAS Remote Pilot (be able to obtain within the first six months)
