The Position
The City of Gunnison is seeking a qualified individual to fill a full-time Police Officer position. The right candidate would fulfill Gunnison PD's mission of "existing to maintain a high quality of life through prevention of crime, fair and equal treatment of all, and education in partnership with the citizens of Gunnison and its visitors." This position performs technical, professional, and administrative duties related to maintaining the security of the City, protecting constitutional guarantees of all persons, protecting life and property, preserving public peace and order, preventing, solving and detecting crimes, facilitating the safe movement of people and vehicles, and other emergency services as needed.
The Compensation and Benefits
Salary $68,900-93,100 dependent on qualifications. Lateral transfer accepted. Differential pay for shift work.
Signing Bonus $15,000. ($7,500 at hire, $7,500 at completion of Field Training.)

P.O.S.T. certification: Must possess a Colorado Basic Certification or Colorado Provisional Certification at time of appointment as a police officer.
_P.O.S.T. Training assistance_:
_Provisional Certificate Holders _– City of Gunnison will pay travel and training costs associated with full certification compliance after appointment and as part of a conditional offer.
_Non-Certificate Holders _– City of Gunnison will pay academy costs associated with full certification compliance as part of a conditional offer, to include appointment as a police cadet while attending academy and housing costs. Police Cadet wage is $24.56 an hour plus benefits.

*Training is conducted within the Department and through the Colorado P.O.S.T. program.
The Ideal Candidate
Minimum Qualifications include graduation from high school or general equivalency development (G.E.D.) and the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
