The Greenskeeper performs specialized and skilled duties in the maintenance of the golf course and supporting grounds. The class works under direct supervision according to set procedures.
Minimum Requirements- Requires a minimum of one year of full-time equivalent experience in agriculture, lawn care, or landscaping; knowledge and skill in lawn care equipment operation.
- High school diploma or successful completion of a GED preferred.
- Must possess, or have the ability to obtain a Virginia Commercial Pesticide Applicator license within 30 days of employment.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substance abuse policy.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
Additional Requirements
- Requires shift work to include nights, weekends, holidays and on-call emergency standby.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during city emergency situations, or at the direction of the City Manager or designee which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
