What are the responsibilities and job description for the Charter School Sponsoring Officer position at City of Henderson?
The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Charter School Sponsoring Officer in the Office of Education Initiatives within the City Manager's Office. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.
Under limited supervision, manages, plans, and coordinates charter school sponsorship efforts and project teams in support of the Charter Sponsoring Division within the Office of Education Initiatives, and performs related duties as assigned.
The Office of Education Initiatives is a division of the City Manager’s Office responsible for the implementation of the City’s Quality Education Strategic Priority. This unit works collaboratively with internal departments and external public entities and community organizations to support high quality educational opportunities for Henderson residents.
The City of Henderson was recently approved to serve as a charter school sponsor and is currently creating it’s Charter School Sponsoring Division within the Office of Education initiatives to house this new service. The City is seeking a Charter School Sponsoring Officer to execute the approved plan and formalize authorizing practices. The division is expected to expand in the coming year and the Charter School Sponsoring Officer is expected to develop into a supervisory role within the division.

Salary placement for non-represented positions is based on a comprehensive compensation review and takes into consideration the candidate's qualifications as well as internal equity.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a closely related field
- Five (5) years of experience in charter school operations, charter school authorizing, program development, analysis, and implementation, and project management
- Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered
- Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483
- Desirable: Master’s Degree in Education or other Social Science field
- Desirable: Prior professional experience at a lead level or higher
