EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (PART-TIME) ZOO TRAIN CONDUCTOR
Duties: Provide a welcoming environment and offering a safe recreational and educational experience on the Jackson Zooline Railroad as a train conductor. Provide preventative maintenance on the train and the tracks, cleaning the train station and operating the train.
Ability to:
- Work hours are Wednesday - Sunday some holidays.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Standing for long periods of time and frequently getting on and off the train.
- Provide customer service skills and assist guests boarding and disembarking the train.
- Maneuver guests using wheelchairs on and off train.
Other responsibilities include: inspecting train and tracks daily and parking train for storage. Operate light to medium; construction equipment such as dump, garbage and bucket trucks, tractor, forklift, flat bed, backhoes and removal equipment for a variety of maintenance and construction operation involving parks. Operate hand power tools including grinder, grease machine, chain saw, paint machine, pole chipper and a stump. Identify equipment needs for each assigned project; Transport dirt, cement and other materials to jobsite. Report minor repair needs to supervisor. Ensure safety of equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience performing maintenance work involving the operation of construction equipment is desirable. Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade. Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate, valid driver's license. Possession of a valid Class “A” or Class “B” Commercial License is recommended, previously train experiences preferred.
