Civil Designer
ENTRY-LEVEL SALARY: $53,772 annually

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent, including or supplemented by courses in mathematics and mechanical drawing.
- Four (4) years of general civil engineering/surveying experience including two (2) years of civil engineering computer aided design/drafting OR Successful completion of sixty (60) hours civil engineering/surveying coursework at a CHEA/ABET accredited technical school, college, or university accompanied with two (2) years of civil engineering computer aided design/drafting experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs basic design responsibilities involving the preparation of design plans for municipal construction and maintenance projects, such as: roadway, drainage or minor structural design plans.
Coordinates with technical staff in the completion of plans and specifications and processing of field survey data.
Performs difficult engineering computations such as determining quantities, horizontal and vertical roadway lay-outs, grading, etc.
Creates, develops and/or revises detailed construction, right-of-way, property boundary or site drawings and maps using sophisticated computer aided design/drafting civil engineering software.
Performs property records research and research of project plans.
Assists Civil Engineers in the design of municipal improvement projects.
Delineates drainage areas for roadway and storm water improvement projects.
Prepares stake-out plans to be used by survey crews for construction layouts.
May supervise lower-level technicians.
