Key Job Duties:
- Manages and implements goals, objectives and programs for the City based upon long range plans.
- Communicates official plans, policies and procedures to elected officials, staff and general public
- Analyzes and researches data, surveys, standards, codes and ordinances to maintain knowledge of current practices
- Attends and makes presentations to various boards, commissions and the City Council on development applications and planning initiatives.
- Provides public education opportunities regarding ordinance, zoning and City code
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Urban Planning or a related field required, Master’s Degree preferred.
AICP is required within one year of hiring.
Minimum five years’ experience in municipal or public planning, engineering, architecture or related field required and
Valid State motor vehicle operator’s license and acceptable driving record required

Considerable and thorough knowledge of zoning laws and comprehensive plans including their formation, process of adoption and enforcement.
Thorough knowledge of planning programs and processes.
Working knowledge of personal computers and GIS applications.
Knowledge of supervisory practices and proven leadership skills.
Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
Ability to prepare, organize and maintain a variety of reports, processes and systems.
Ability to effectively use oral and written communications.
Ability to use or ability to learn to prepare reports utilizing Microsoft Office suite and other software as applicable.
Ability to analyze problems to identify alternative solutions.
Ability to guide, train, direct and motivate employees.
Ability to organize and supervise the activities of others.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and with suppliers or the public as needed.
