Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems, including conduits, cables, wires, and related equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, and switches.
- Install watt-hour meters and connect service drops between power lines and consumer facilities.
- Open switches or attach grounding devices to remove electrical hazards from disturbed or fallen lines or to facilitate repairs.
- Operate and maintain power plant.
- Collect and test water and sewage samples using testing equipment.
- Record operational data.
- Drive heavy equipment and vehicles with adjustable attachments to sweep debris from paved surfaces.
- Mow grass and weeds, remove snow and ice and spread salt and sand.
- Dump, spread and tamp asphalt using pneumatic tampers to repair joints and patch broken pavement.
- Use a wide range of tools, from hand and power tools to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
- Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
- Train and manage maintenance personnel and subcontractors.
- Other general maintenance duties.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in utility work or related field preferred
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety protocols
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and effectively
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
