Job Description
Job Responsibilities
2. Performs and completes assigned solid waste collection route(s) within allotted time period.
3. Inspects vehicles and equipment daily for proper mechanical functioning and performs minor and preventive maintenance on the equipment.
4. Transports collected garbage, recyclables, brush, debris and other materials to appropriate disposal sites.
5. Maintains a record of the equipment and route operations.
6. Assist other personnel in the department whenever necessary.
7. Performs other related duties as required or necessary.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
2. Job requires at least three (3) years of related work experience.
3. Job requires a valid Texas Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B with Air Brakes.
4. Must have a general knowledge of subject area to perform effectively, with little direct supervision – various work situations having deviations and irregularities.
5. Must possess the skill to operate light and heavy equipment and vehicles.
6. Must have ability to work well with others.
7. Must be able to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
8. Must have ability to communicate (read/write) in English; bilingual skills in English and Spanish preferred.
Physical Requirements
2. Work involves operating a piece of equipment, normally from a sitting position, as well as frequent physical labor.
3. Works outdoors and works some unusual hours, irregular hours or shifts, with hazards which may result in lost time.
Additional Information
1. This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
2. Employee has no supervisory responsibilities of personnel.
3. Job requires working evenings, weekends, holidays and during hurricane or other emergencies, when assigned or needed.
