ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the direction of the Service Delivery Manager to assist City of Memphis staff with installation, configuration and ongoing usability of desktops, laptops, peripheral equipment and software complying with the given standards and guidelines. Ensures desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with various systems. Repairs hardware and network connectivity issues when necessary. Updates computer operating systems and other important software as needed. Updates and maintains the computer inventory and equipment. Coordinates with vendors to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software. Travels to various locations to provide critical user's support.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires ability to operate general office equipment. Must be able to move and lift computer equipment weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires the ability to operate an automobile.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office environment which involves contact with the staff and management. Travels to work facilities to support end users.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s degree in Information Technology, or a closely related field and two (2) years' experience in a desktop technical role; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Working experience in troubleshooting hardware and software computer related issues. CompTIA A or Network Certification is preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license as a condition of continued employment.
