Assists in providing operational direction for the City of Midland’s sports facilities. Work directly with the sports associations, as well as public in scheduling fields. Performs responsibilities efficiently and effectively, promoting a positive image of the Division and the City. Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills. Reports directly to Recreation Manager.
BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists Recreation Manager in preparing and monitoring the annual budget. Makes recommendations regarding budget modifications to reflect current trends and practice.
- Oversee daily management of Sports fields operation.
- Specific oversight of: Scheduling of sports fields and lights at the fields.
- Customer service skills are essential: responsible for creating a workforce with customers’ satisfaction and safety at its core.
- Assist with planning, promoting, developing, and supervising athletic programs, tournaments, and special events.
- Assist with preparation, distribution, and promotion of departmental programs and activities.
- Represents the department in special events, committees, and community activities as needed.
Ability to sit, stand and transport self from building to building. Employee will work in various temperature conditions. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
REQUIRED CONTACTS:Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, other city departments, city and statewide organizations, the general public and contractors. Ability to create collaborative partnerships with community entities. Associate degree in Parks and recreation, Physical Education, Human Development or Education, Social Interaction, or related field. Knowledge of basic computer skills. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with public and staff. Ability to work independently on multiple projects with minimal supervision, and plan, organize, and monitor staff work assignment to accomplish overall goals.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Physical Education, Human Development or Education, Social Interaction, or related field. First aid CPR Certified. 3 years of Recreational programming experience. Knowledge in Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and graphs.
