Summary
The purpose of this position is to assist the Golf Course Grounds Supervisor part-time in the operations of the Neosho Municipal Golf Course in its entirety.
General Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Knowledge and experience to operate an 18 (eighteen) hole municipal golf course.
2. Assist in training and maintaining a staff of professional employees to perform all duties that meet all requirements of the golf course greens.
3. Assist in the planning and coordination of course maintenance of the greens, green specific aerification, seeding, fertilization, chemical applications, mowing, weed eating, tree trimming, upkeep of flower beds, hole/pin placement, cart paths, and irrigation system of entire golf course grounds.
4. Project the needs for equipment, materials, and supplies. Provide support in the estimates and bids for machinery, equipment, golf course maintenance and contractor services.
5. Uphold all safety regulations, policies, and procedures of the City of Neosho.
Knowledge of:
1. The ability to uphold staffing requirements for effective and efficient business operations of the golf course.
2. Methods for material and equipment safety precautions used in planning/maintaining operating an 18 (eighteen) hole municipal golf course.
3. Proper maintenance of the golf course including seeding, fertilizing and chemical applications to ensure the stability and beauty of the course.
4. Ensures equipment, machinery, tools, and supplies are properly inventoried and kept.
5. Ensures adherence to established safety standards/procedures throughout the department.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
- Will be subject to background investigation and physical.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment substance abuse testing.
- Will be subject to random substance abuse testing.
2. Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required. One to three years of Golf Course Greenkeeping experience and/or certifications or credentials in related field.
3. Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
4. Reasoning Ability
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions.
· Coordinate multiple and complex goals simultaneously.
· Inspect golf course greens and facilities and recommend necessary changes.
· Make decisions on procedural and technical levels involving work of all subordinates.
· Demonstrate excellent work ethic and integrity.
5. Physical Demands
This position works in an outdoor environment. Must possess the ability to operate a motor vehicle; the ability to perform light to heavy physical work; operate a variety of hand and power tools, industrial mowers, and equipment. Finger and hand dexterity is needed to safely operate equipment and tools. The ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach when completing tasks at ground level and overhead. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects of various weight, with the use of proper equipment.
6. Work Environment
Work is performed primarily in the outside environment amid normal conditions of dust, odors, fumes, noises, precipitation, and extreme temperatures.
7. Training:
· Continually participate in additional training related to job as requested by supervisor.
· Ability to apply new techniques of staff training, knowledge of human behavior and behavior modification.
