What you'll get to do:
- Apply paints, varnishes, stains, lacquers, enamels, and other finishes to a variety of structures and fixtures; inspects surfaces for proper maintenance of finish.
- Remove paint and finishes; prepares surfaces for application of paint, other finishes, or specialized surfaces, coverings or coatings; finishes, patches and repairs surface as needed, including emergency repairs.
- Mix and match paints, and other finishes; prepare materials and equipment used for a variety of specialized applications.
- Perform work related to the suitability and safety of structures and fixtures, including cleaning, disinfecting, lead abatement, and protective coverings.
- Set rigging and scaffolding and operate lifts and small cranes as needed to perform work.
- Operate a variety of power and hand tools and equipment, including applicators, and sandblasting and pressure washing equipment; use highly technical systems to apply properly multi-part coatings.
- Maintain records, supplies and equipment; determines materials needs; carries out all required safety procedures.
- Plan and organize assigned job; estimates time, materials and equipment; orders and purchases materials; coordinates job activities with other crafts and trades personnel; reviews plans and specifications, and confers with engineers, design professionals and inspectors on suggested changes and modifications.
- Respond to calls to work during emergencies.

- Knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation requirements and troubleshooting.
- Ability to learn and use safe working practices including handling and cleaning of related painting materials and equipment.
- Experience applying measurements and arithmetic computations including multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and conversions.
- Experience communicating and working effectively with co-workers in a diverse workforce and respond appropriately to questions/concerns from other employees and the public.
- A valid state driver's license and an acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass the Physical Capabilities Test
