What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volleyball Official/Gym Supervisor position at City of Post Falls?
The primary function of an employee in this class is to set up for and officiate at volleyball games; supervises gymnasium functions during the events. The position supervises subordinate game officials and is under the direct supervision of a Recreation Supervisor or Program Coordinator, although some latitude is allowed for independent judgment and initiative. The principal duties of the position are performed in a public gymnasium environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sets up equipment for, and, if needed, officiates volleyball games;
- Supervises general gymnasium activities, including spectators and participants, during events;
- Cleans up and closes facility after events;
- Coordinates activities of subordinate game officials;
- Performs all work duties and activities in accordance City policies, procedures and safety practices.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs duties for co-workers in their absence;
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Rules, regulations, officiating techniques, and scorekeeping for volleyball
- Basic supervisory skills;
- Dispute mediation and resolution.
- Communicate effectively with participants, spectators, coaches, other City employees, and the public.
- Preferred, but not required: One (1) to two (2) years experience in the activity being officiated; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
