The City of Reno Human Resources Team has an exciting opportunity for a temporary, non-benefited, part-time Human Resources Assistant. The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering an exceptional and transformational employee experience. As a Human Resources Assistant you will provide support for various human resources functions, projects, and initiatives.
This is a temporary, non-benefited, part-time position up to 17.5 hours per week between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday (not to exceed 233 hours per quarter and 1039 hours in the FY). There are no benefits offered with this position.
The Human Resources Assistant will work alongside and support the Human Resources Team. Typical responsibilities include: assisting employees with employment related questions; answering telephones; responding to written and oral inquiries; routing calls to appropriate staff; performing records scanning, corrections, and maintenance; sorting and distributing mail; running reports; and performing other support functions as needed.
Performs various routine clerical duties, utilizing standard office equipment, to include: screening incoming calls; taking and transmitting messages; maintaining calendars; scheduling meetings; making photocopies; performing data entry; faxing documents; typing; and word processing.
Processes, receives, sorts, and distributes a variety of correspondence, deliveries, and mail.
Files documents alphabetically, numberically, or by retention schedules.
Responds to requests for information from employees, general public, other agencies, and/or other interested parties; answers routine questions; directs visitors to appropriate locations.
Prepares, reviews, and/or processes a variety of routine correspondence, reports, logs, information, paperwork, invoices, forms, agreements, flyers, brochures, invitations, and/or other related information in assigned area of responsibility; keys information into applicable spreadsheets and/or databases
Conducts employment verifications according to privacy rules and regulations; tracks and monitors fingerprinting and background check logs.
Monitors and orders office supplies and materials.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Work organization and office management principles and practices.
Methods and techniques of effective technical, administrative, and financial record keeping, report preparation, and presentation.

English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Basic filing, and confidential recordkeeping principles.
Ability to:

Participate in the administration of assigned human resources programs and functions.
Maintain accurate, confidential and complete employee records.

Meet the physical requirements to safely and effectively perform the assigned duties.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Work Experience:
One (1) year experience in an office and/or customer service-oriented environment.
