Description
The City of Richmond Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Warrant Desk Manager to work within the Record & Technology division. The successful candidate manages the overall operation of the Warrant Desk at the Justice Center and prepares statistical reports for management.
Duties include but are not limited to
- Trains, directs, supervises and evaluates performance of all staff assigned to the Richmond Police Department warrant unit;
- Identify continual training for staff;
- Reviews all work of all assigned staff and investigates problems;
- Reviews and approves payroll to ensure accuracy of employee payroll, audit employee time, posts overtime as needed and maintains & develops MOU with other jurisdictions;
- Update policy and procedures;
- Coordinates monthly and yearly audits conducted by VSP/FBI;
- Ensures shift coverage and working any shift as needed;
- Develops new business process for desk;
- Maintains on-call status and responds to problems or issues as needed;
- Responds to phone calls and maintains on-call status and responds to problems or issues as needed;
- Assist with retention process – the ability learn all aspect of the Warrant Desk functionality;
- Maintains 24/7 service to the department
Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three years of related experience
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum requirements of the classification
- Maintain VCIN/NCIN certification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- Computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite
- Data analysis
- Data management
- Electronic databases and related software applications
- Federal regulations pertaining to assigned area
- General knowledge of the laws and legal procedures related to focus area
- Permit and plan review, processes, and procedures
Skills (some combination of the following):
- Communicating and coordinating with various internal and external departments
- Creating and implementing policies and procedures
- Gathering and interpreting data routinely
- Interpreting and applying federal regulations for programs
- Setting timetables, achieving milestones and tracking progress, and taking corrective actions
- Supervising including conducting performance evaluations, mentoring, etc.
- Writing procedures
